Ice hockey: Garside extends Capital stay

TALENTED young ice hockey hit-man Mark Garside has re-signed for Edinburgh Capitals.

The forward from East Kilbride is Doug Christiansen's first signing for the new season which starts in September.

This will be the former Great Britain Young Player of the Year's fourth season with the Murrayfield-based Elite League club.

Christiansen, the club's director of hockey, said: "Mark is a talented young Scottish player and I'm thrilled to have him back.

"He works hard at both ends of the ice and has developed into one of our best penalty killers."

Garside was Capitals' top scoring British player last season collecting 26 points from nine goals and 17 assists.

Christiansen added: "Mark also has a knack for scoring big goals."
