Hugh out to restore St Mirren's pride
ST MIRREN midfielder Hugh Murray is determined to use tonight's visit of Aberdeen as an opportunity to restore pride following their crushing defeat at Celtic Park.
Saints lost 7-0 to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League champions after Jack Ross was sent off in the 28th minute. And Murray is keen to show the St Mirren fans the match was a blip in an otherwise encouraging run for the club, which has seen them go unbeaten in six matches in Paisley.
Murray said: "Sometimes after a defeat it can be a long week and you mope about. But it's a good thing that we have this chance to show our fans it was a one-off."
Murray revealed manager Gus MacPherson had worked hard to tell his players to put the loss behind them.
"From a player's point of view you are hurting on Saturday night," the 30-year-old said.
"We were in training on Sunday and Monday. On Sunday, it was quiet and obviously people are still hurting.
"But the manager had a wee chat with us, along with the assistant manager, and told us it has happened to them before and not to get too down."
