Hreidarsson attracted to Rangers move

HERMANN Hreidarsson has revealed he would be interested in joining Rangers if he leaves Portsmouth this summer.

The veteran Iceland defender, 34, is out of contract at Fratton Park but is waiting for Pompey to appoint a new manager before deciding his future.

He told the News of the World: "I would be interested but as yet nothing's been offered – at least nothing concrete. I'm still waiting on Portsmouth to appoint a new manager. I will have a word with him and see what he's got to say. But I would look upon the Scottish League as a good, new challenge for me.

"Rangers would be a good club for any player to move to, especially when they have the Champions League coming up next season."

&#149 DaMarcus Beasley was a second-half substitute as the USA took another major step towards qualification to the 2010 World Cup by beating Honduras 2-1 on Saturday. The Americans needed the win after losing 3-1 in Costa Rica last Wednesday. A Landon Donovan penalty and a Carlos Bocanegra header ensured the home team came from behind at Soldier Field in Chicago.
