Hoy set for Revolution's tough test
CAPITAL cycling star Chris Hoy will be in action on British soil for the first time since the Beijing Olympics when he races in front of a sell-out crowd at the latest Revolution Meeting in Manchester on December 6.
The 32-year-old had his only competitive outing since returning from China when he competed in Milan at the start of this month and showed he had retained his form by winning the Sprinters' Cup.
He will line up against Jamie Staff and Jason Kenny, his fellow Olympic champions in the team sprint, while another Scottish rider, Ross Edgar, who took silver behind Hoy in the Keirin, will also be in action.
With his focus now back on the bike and a target of three wins at next year's World Championships in Poland, Hoy is relishing the prospect, saying: "I'm really looking forward to getting back racing. Revolution is one of the highlights of the season for all the riders so I'm pleased that it will be my first race back."
Meanwhile, Hoy has acknowledged the contribution local officials made to his early career by accepting an invitation to become patron of the East of Scotland Cycling Association.
