How the Rangers players rated

Allan McGregor Powerless to prevent the goal, he did make two crucial saves from Wilton Figueiredo in the second half. 8/10

Madjid Bougherra

Took too long to settle and snatched at a chance to equalise shortly before half-time. Should have taken more responsibility. 5/10

David Weir

Part of central defensive triumvirate which looked ill at ease in the early stages. Whether a tactical switch or an enforced swap, Rangers looked more comfortable when they reverted to a back four. 6/10

Sasa Papac

Out of his usual left back role, tucked inside and didn't enjoy one of his best Rangers performances. Was booked for a foul on Larsson. 6/10

Steven Whittaker

Dispossesed on the edge of his own box in the build-up to Daniel Larsson's 18th minute opener and rarely troubled the visiting defence with crosses. 5/10

Steven Davis

Free-kick forced a save from Dusan Melicharek in the 31st minute and was one of the few with drive and a willingness to accept responsibility. 7/10

Maurice Edu

Clumsy and careless in his challenges and offering little cover for the defence, he spent too much of the match chasing shadows. 4/10

Lee McCulloch

Gave fans hope with a couple of long-range efforts in second half but they came to nothing. 5/10

Lee Wallace

The former Hearts full-back made his starting debut. Hampered by having little in front of him and too many frailties alongside him at the back. 6/10

Steven Naismith

An impotent force, finding it difficult to make passes and blowing chance after chance when they were laid on a plate for him. 5/10

Nikica Jelavic

A frustrated figure, he struggled early on as Malmo defended en masse and the level of service from his team-mates was not good enough. His cross for Naimsith in the 67th minute should have resulted in the equaliser. 7/10

Juan Ortiz

First half sub for Weir as Rangers reshuffled but failed to make a telling contribution. 5/10
