Racing: Meeting at Hamilton Park abandoned due to waterlogged track

THIS afternoon’s Flat meeting at Hamilton Park has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Originally an inspection was called for 11.30am yesterday but that was brought forward to 10am in light of a poor forecast. However, further rain overnight left officials with no choice and in the end the decision was inevitable.

Clerk of the course Hazel Peplinski said: “It was a relatively easy decision, it’s completely waterlogged. It’s been a sad end to the season which never really got going. We’ve had around 22 inches of rain this summer when you’d normally expect eight or nine.”
