Racing: Imperial Legend eyes a hat-trick

HAT-TRICK seeking Imperial Legend spearheads a three-strong raiding party at Musselburgh today for Thirsk trainer David Nicholls.

Following back-to-back wins at Ayr last month, the gelding bids for more success under regular partner Shirley Teasdale in the Fearless Freddie The Place To Bet Handicap.

Nicholls said: “He had one or two problems after Ayr but he is over them now and in good form. He’s sharpened up since we stuck the cheekpieces on and he should go well.”

Course and distance scorer Cara’s Request is the first into action for the Yorkshire handler in division two of the Archerfield We Play A Different Game Handicap and he added: “He needs juice so I’m looking for a bit of rain to arrive. He’s in good nick and handles the track so I’d like to think he’d run well.”

Seven-times Musselburgh winner Fremen goes in the St Andrews Timber And Building Supplies Claiming Stakes and Nicholls said: “Old Fremen is old Fremen and he’ll need a bit of luck in running as he always does.”
