Racing: ‘Fairytale’ return for Mason Hindmarsh
MASON Hindmarsh, who underwent life-saving surgery earlier in the year, provided locally-born Karen McLintock with an emotional success in the Brian & Beverley’s Wedding Day Celebration Handicap at Musselburgh.
The gelding, ridden by Graham Lee returning from a 327-day absence, scrambled home by a nose from Singzak with The Bells O Peover just three quarters of a length back in third.
Newcastle-based McLintock said: “Fairytales do happen. This horse was only hours away from losing his life. It was the skills of the team at Glasgow Vet School that pulled him through. We were only dipping our toe in the water today – to win was beyond our wildest dreams.”
Lee went on from there to complete a treble. He is now unbeaten on four rides on Ann Duffield’s Just Lille who landed her 17th career win in the St Andrews Timber And Building Supplies Claiming Stakes. His treble was completed aboard Jim Goldie’s Hawdyerwheesht in the Black Jack Racing Musselburgh’s No 1 Bookmaker Handicap.
