Ayr water drying ground
AYR have turned on the taps to ensure the best possible going for Saturday's Scottish Grand National.
To combat the drying ground, round the clock watering has been taking place on the West coast.
"We have had a dry spell stretching back almost a month and we have very little rain forecast, just the odd shower before we race on Friday," explained clerk of the course Katherine Self. Despite all the efforts of the Ayr staff, the going continues to quicken up and was yesterday changed to good to firm all round.
John Quinn, trainer of Scottish Grand National favourite Character Building, warned punters not to back his charge until he is certain to run. "I wouldn't back him at the moment. I would wait and back him when he goes around the parade ring on Saturday."
