Horse Racing: Pachattack drops sights to gain a hit
PACHATTACK has yet to get her head in front in four starts this year but a slight drop in class can see her get off the mark at Kempton.
Trainer Gerard Butler has lowered his sights slightly to tackle the Groomed To Perfection, The Kia Soul Conditions Stakes after campaigning his charge in Pattern company earlier in the year.
The Pulpit filly finished fourth in a Group Three at the back end of the 2008 season and Butler felt she was good enough to contest the Pretty Polly first time up.
However, she was outclassed on that occasion by Take The Hint while she stood no chance of getting near dual Oaks winner Sariska in the Musidora.
Given a break after that run, Pachattack was saddled with top weight when second in a Newmarket handicap in September, a run which put her right to post a career-best effort when second in Listed company.
She did not enjoy the best of runs that day and was only beaten a short head by Enticement, an effort which must surely see her well in the frame off bottom weight.
Next Move hails from an excellent family and should be worth watching in the second division of the digibet Median Auction Maiden Stakes.
Four of his half-siblings have won, including Group One scorer Chelsea Rose, and he would not have to be all that special to take this seven-furlong heat.
Angel Song showed plenty of dash to win over six furlongs at Southwell on her racecourse bow back in January and she can make the most of her return to the Nottinghamshire venue.
Sir Mark Prescott's filly was awarded a mark of 76 after her four-and-a-half-length victory but failed to strike again in three subsequent starts.
The step up to seven furlongs at Catterick proved too far while dropping back to five on her last start at Kempton in September looked far too sharp.
Returning to six furlongs on a course she has already won on should, Angel Song is worth a chance in the Call 01636 814481 To Sponsor A Race Handicap off a 3lb lower mark.
