Rugby: Morrison shines as Cougars inflict damage to Preston Lodge’s title bid

Euan MORRISON was the star man for in-form RHC Cougars as they threw a spanner in the works of Preston Lodge’s RBS East One title challenge on Saturday.

Morrison scored two tries and kicked ten points at Barnton as the hosts won 20-15 against the men from East Lothian.

PL’s points in defeat came from tries from Paul Voy and Blair Robertson with Graeme Patterson kicking a penalty and a conversion.

The loss leave’s PL two points behind leaders Livingston, but they have played two matches more while RHC Cougars are in great form at the moment and are third.

North Berwick are in fourth place after a 32-5 home victory over Duns while Dunbar are fifth after they defeated Portobello 25-11 in a mid-table clash.

With leaders Hawick Linden seeing their local derby with Hawick Harlequins called off Dalkeith took advantage to close the gap at the top of RBS East Two.

The men from Midlothian won 14-12 at Ross High to put them now just two points behind Linden. Ross High remain rooted to the bottom.

In the other match that got the go ahead in the division. Trinity Accies travelled to the Borders and returned with a 28-7 win from Gala YM. It leaves them in mid-table.
