Hockey: Fraser goal sparks win over USA
Scotland coach Russell Garcia was satisfied with his side's 3-1 victory over the USA in the second of four test matches at Forthbank as the Scots enter the final stages of the build up for the Commonwealth Games.
The Americans, three places above the Scots in the world rankings, controlled the early stages but Garcia's men grabbed the opening goal four minutes from the interval. A long ball from Ross Stott found Gareth Hall on the left wing and his cross was brilliantly fired home by Grange's Cammie Fraser.
The Americans pressed for the equaliser but it was the Scots who went two up from their first penalty corner of the second half. In a variation routine, the ball was switched from Mark Ralph to Stephen Dick and his pass was touched home by Gordon McIntyre at the far post.
Scotland made it three when a penetrating through ball from Ralph went directly to an unmarked Stephen Dick in the circle and he sent a low reverse stick shot past the keeper for the third.
Lack of concentration at the back allowed the Americans to score a consolation goal from a last-minute set piece.
