Hibs trial Austrian goalkeeper

HIBERNIAN could be ready to add to their goalkeeping ranks after taking Austrian Under-21 international Marco Knaller on trial.

The 21-year-old is a free agent after leaving First Division side Lustenau before the transfer window closed, making him eligible to sign for the Leith club immediately if he impresses this week.

The Hibs manager Mixu Paatelainen is searching for competition for Yves Ma-Kalambay and Andrew McNeil, and the former Admira Wacker youngster could be the man to fit the bill.

Knaller comes from a large footballing family and his father, Wolfgang, played in goal until the age of 44.

Meanwhile, former Hibernian winger Jamie McCluskey has returned from trials in Italy with Catania and Salernitana after picking up a thigh knock in a training match.
