Appeal for information after ‘appalling’ behaviour by youths on Aberdeen trains

BRITISH Transport Police are appealing for information following two incidents of “appalling” indecent behaviour by young teenage boys on successive nights on a passenger train between Aberdeen and Stonehaven.

The incidents, in which the same 31 year-old woman was the victim, happened last Wednesday and Thursday night

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “On Wednesday, 12 December, two boys boarded the 9.31pm Aberdeen to Stonehaven service and during the journey acted in an indecent manner towards a 31 year-old woman in the carriage at the time. They are described as being aged around 15 years and of slim build. One was wearing a grey jumper and dark jeans. The other was wearing a dark baggy jumper and jeans and both boys had BMX bikes with them.

“The following night – Thursday, 13 December - three boys boarded the same train service. Again, the woman was subjected to unsavoury indecent behaviour during the journey. Two of the boys are believed to have been involved in the incident the previous night and the third is described as wearing a light coloured jumper and cargo-style trousers and he also had a BMX bike.”

Constable Craig Allan, who is heading the investigation, said: “Passengers should be able to travel without encountering such unwelcome and appalling behaviour. I am appealing to anyone who was on the trains at the time or at Aberdeen or Stonehaven stations and has information which can help identify those responsible to contact BTP as a matter of urgency.”
