Heriot's look to experience
HERIOT'S are set to tap into the experience of two of Scotland's most venerable cricketers in looking to preserve their Lloyd's TSB Premiership status in a play-off against Forfarshire at Freuchie tomorrow, writes BILL LOTHIAN.
Evergreens Euan McIntyre, 57, and Asim Butt, 41, who together boast 65 Scotland caps, are included in a 13-man squad for the twice postponed fixture.
Skipper Steve Knox says: "We've lost Jamie Innes to football and need to cover all our options in terms of the conditions when we turn up at Freuchie.
"Training has been restricted to the astroturf areas of Goldenacre but we have managed twice-weekly sessions in the nets to ensure we are in good shape.
"Fortunately our pro, Cammy Farrell, has stayed on which will give us additional depth and one way or another an inquest will take place into our season next Tuesday and hopefully we will break a trend which has seen our 2nds and 3rds relegated this season from their respective leagues."
Standing by to make a debut for Heriot's is Gur Singh while Euan Harrison, a consistent performer in the 2nd XI over the past few months, is also listed.
