Heriot's head to Munster with their tails up

HERIOT'S head into their final British & Irish Cup match in Munster tonight without a victory to their name, but head coach Bob McKillop could not be more positive about the tournament.

The Goldenacre men have already been defeated by Nottingham, Coventry, Neath and Bristol in the inaugural event and a win for the Irish side this evening would see them top the group and head into the knock-out stages.

However, McKillop and his players have enjoyed the experience and after pushing Nottingham close in their opener prior to Christmas Heriot's domestic form improved as a result of increased competition for places within the squad.

McKillop said: "I definitely think the event can grow in coming seasons. Ayr have done fantastically well and I am sure they have enjoyed the experience every bit as much as we have, and I think if given the chance the likes of Currie and Melrose would also perform very well.

"It has been hugely beneficial for both the club and the players at Heriot's and I am proud of the way the players have responded to some tough matches."
