Heriot's 21 - 24 West of Scotland

WEST of Scotland emerged as victors after a tight encounter. It was the visitors who had the better of the first half, an unconverted James Eddie try and a self-converted score from Michael Sim giving them the half-time lead over a jaded and injury-ravaged home side who could only muster three Graham Wilson penalties.

Early second-half scores from winger Ben Wright and impressive young scrum-half Murray McConnell, the former converted by Sim, ensured West a bonus point. The game as a contest remained in the balance thanks to home flanker Struan Dewar who touched down for a try converted by Wilson, leaving Heriot's eight points adrift entering the final quarter. Centre Richard Mill crossed for an unconverted score which gave the hosts hope, however West held on.
