Hendry's stay in Shanghai is cut short by tricky Ricky

STEPHEN HENDRY crashed out of the Shanghai Masters after twice blowing a lead to lose 5-4.

The seven-times world champion led 1-0 and 3-2 before bowing out in the first round to 25-year-old Welshman Ricky Walden in the final frame.

Hendry said: "I'm very disappointed. I love coming to China."

Fellow Scot and two-time world champion John Higgins beat Tom Ford 5-4 despite almost throwing away a 3-0 lead. "I was lucky," said Higgins. "He came out very strongly to make it 3-2, should have made it 3-3 but did well to come back to 4-4."

World champion Ronnie O'Sullivan secured his place in the last 16 with a nervy 5-2 win over Stuart Pettman – as defending champion Dominic Dale bowed out.

There was a stunning win for world No.4 Mark Selby who beat 19-year-old Judd Trump 5-1 thanks to breaks of 88, 105, 85, 75 and 75.
