Hearts boss to get word on Wallace injury
HEARTS manager Jim Jefferies is set to find out today the extent of the knee injury suffered by Lee Wallace in last night's Scotland game.
The left-back will have a scan on the joint today after being carried off just after the half-time break in the national side's 2-1 victory over Liechtenstein in Group I of their Euro 2012 qualifiers. The young defender had only been drafted into Craig Levein's side for the game on Monday night following the withdrawal of Steven Whittaker because of injury.
The Tynecastle side travel to Parkhead in the SPL this weekend but Wallace must now be a massive doubt for that match after hobbling out of Hampden Park last night on crutches.
Scotland skipper Darren Fletcher spoke with Wallace in the dressing room after the match and believes that the youngster is one of the country's most promising talents.
He said: "I spoke to him after the game and gave him a few words of support. Hopefully the injury is not too bad, obviously the scans will show the extent of the problem, but we're all hoping that it is nothing too serious.
"Any time that a player gets carried off the pitch like that it is very worrying but he's a great young talent and hopefully it won't keep him out of action.
"I thought he had been very good up to that point, he's a great young defender, he also got forward very well and he's very comfortable on the ball."
Fletcher felt the Scots had come in for some rough treatment from their opponents, with one challenge in particular, on Tottenham defender Alan Hutton by David Hasler, enraging those in dark blue.
Fletcher continued: "There was a bad tackle on Allan Hutton as well and he's been left with a bad gash on his leg.
"There were a few heavy challenges going in and we experienced the same kind of thing against Lithuania, it seems to be the approach these teams are adopting against us."
