Hamilton Accies v Inverness CT: Reid glad to see the back of poor season
Hamilton Accies v Inverness CT Clydesdale Bank Premier League At New Douglas Park, today, kick-off 3pm BBC Radio Scotland Online
Hamilton manager Billy Reid will gladly wave goodbye to a frustrating season against Inverness at New Douglas Park today.
Accies' relegation from the SPL was confirmed with defeat at St Johnstone on Tuesday night after a three-year stint at the top level. Reid has since come to terms with the drop down to the Irn-Bru First Division, but is looking to finish on a high against Caley.
"We would like to sign off with a win against Inverness," he said. "But as long as we don't get anyone sent off or give away any penalties, I will be quite happy. We have given 15 penalties away this season and so we have caused our own problems.
"But it has been a fantastic three years and I am pretty excited about next season with the group of players that will remain here. Sometimes you have to take a step back but we will come back. There will be a freshness about the club and we have to build again."
Simon Mensing played in Accies' first game in the SPL when they came up from the First Division three seasons ago and he vowed to return. "After playing in the SPL from the start, for it to come to an end has been very sad," he said. "As a player you want to be playing in the top league. That is where I want to be as a player and where the club wants to be but we understand it's going to be tough next season."
