Hamilton 1 - 2 Inverness CT: Accies 'need experience' for SPL push
David Buchanan has backed Hamilton for a swift return to the SPL - if they invest in some experienced personnel.
The defender played his last game for the club on Saturday as relegated Accies suffered a 2-1 defeat to Inverness in the final match of the season.
Buchanan, who is one of nine first-team players to depart now that the club is preparing for life in the Irn-Bru First Division next term, said: "Everyone knows that this football club is trying to go with youth.
"They have got a good record of bringing players through and selling them on. But they need to bring in some experienced players in too.
"They've got players here for next year that are more than capable of playing in the Premier League so they should handle themselves in the First Division. If they play the right way, I'm sure they will be there or thereabouts."
On his own future, Buchanan said: "I've got a few clubs interested, both in Scotland and in England. So I'll just get home with my family and let my agent take care of that. Hopefully now the season has finished, I should know more next week."
Accies failed to add to their single home win in the SPL this season when Adam Rooney grabbed the winner after Richie Foran's opener was cancelled out by Simon Mensing, who later missed from the penalty spot.
Inverness are desperate to retain the services of striker Rooney, who will now mull over his future. He said: "I'm going back home now to Dublin and I'll meet my agent next week and sit down and have a look at what my options are. I've really enjoyed it here so far so I'm definitely not ruling it out, but I want to sit down and have a good look at things.
"I've learned a lot and developed as a player and the next step for me is massive."
