Guzman visa problem leaves Arthur in title limbo

ALEX ARTHUR'S title challenge against WBO super-featherweight boxing champion Joan Guzman at Meadowbank on May 3 has been postponed because of visa problems which prevented the Dominican Republic fighter making the original date.

Sportsnetwork spokesman Richard Maynard explained: "Guzman was unable to get a visa in time for the original date so the bout will be rescheduled for another date, which promoter Frank Warren is working on.

"Once those matters have been sorted out we will arrange another date and make a public statement as soon as possible.''

WBO official Mario Rivero said: "Joan Guzman has had visa problems but I can confirm that his management team are sorting these problems out. and the fight should go ahead in due course as planned.''

Arthur admitted that he was originally upset by the postponement but took a philosophical view of it. "It will give me a longer time to train for Guzman – I'm really looking forward to fighting him.''

&#149 TWO Sparta youngsters, light-flyweight Brodie Robertson, 13, and Scottish youth featherweight champion Chris McHale, will clash with Dunfermline's Danny Carlin and Craigmillar's Jason Easton respectively at Whitburn Miners' club on a Fauldhouse club show tonight.
