Griffiths earns first call-up to Under-21 squad
DUNDEE striker Leigh Griffiths has been handed his maiden call-up to the Scotland Under-21 squad for next Saturday's European Championship qualifier in Azerbaijan.
The 19-year-old has been rewarded for the form which has seen him net ten times this season for the Irn-Bru First Division high-fliers.
Griffiths comes in for the suspended David Goodwillie, while Celtic defender Jason Marr replaces the injured Thomas Scobbie.
There is, however, no place in Billy Stark's 20-man party for in-form Motherwell midfielder Ross Forbes or Rangers starlet John Fleck, both of whom were in the last squad.
The duo may yet be called up for the Under-19s game against Germany in two weeks' time.
Scotland Under-21 squad (Uefa European Under-21 Championship qualifier with Azerbaijan in Baku on 14 November, kick-off 1500GMT): Jamie Barclay (Falkirk), Scott Gallacher (Rangers), Alan Martin (Leeds); Paul Caddis (Celtic), Brian Easton (Burnley), David Gray (Manchester United), Paul Hanlon (Hibernian), Jason Marr (Celtic), Chris Mitchell (Falkirk), Ross Perry (Rangers); Scott Arfield (Falkirk), Barry Bannan (Aston Villa), Paul Coutts (Peterborough), Kevin McDonald (Burnley), Stephen McGinn (St Mirren), David Wotherspoon (Hibernian); Leigh Griffiths (Dundee), Rory Loy (Rangers), Chris Maguire (Aberdeen), Jamie Murphy (Motherwell).
