Griffin saves Lions' blushes
LIVINGSTON'S Danny Griffin rescued a point in the Third Division clash with Berwick and saved face at home, writes NIGEL SOUTHWORTH.
The Northern Irishman scored his first goal for the Lions when he curled in an exquisite free-kick in the 88th minute to deny the Borderers a deserved victory.
Centre-half Griffin, sporting two black eyes after getting a knock in the face in the victory over Forfar, displayed his determined when he grabbed the ball to take the kick, 20 yards out. And he surprised many at Almondvale when he floated the ball over the wall and into corner of the net, leaving Wee Gers keeper Mark Peat rooted to the spot.
Griffin said: "Robbie Winters wanted to take it but I had to push him away, so lucky for me I scored! It's my first goal in four years which will help keep my wife quiet. She has been reminding me about my lack of goals for ages!"
Berwick were the better team and hit the bar twice. Fraser McLaren helped give them the lead in the 71st minute when Cameron MacDonald misjudged his cross and his attempted clearance guided the ball past goalkeeper Roddy McKenzie.
