Golf: Lambs roast Gallacher and Co at Braids

TWO weeks after securing his European Tour card for next season, Stephen Gallacher returned to his roots yesterday to play at the Braids.

The Bathgate star, who last teed it up there in the Lothians Boys' Championship, joined forces with his long-time friend Scott Knowles (Kingsknowe) in the East Alliance Invitational Greensomes.

They carded a four-under-par 66 but that was good enough only to secure third place.

Stephen Lamb (Broomieknowe) and Peter Lamb (Biggar) were the winners with a 64, signing for a card that contained seven birdies – at the first, fourth, 11th, 12th, 14th, 15th and 18th.

In second place, on five under par, were Kenny Reid (West Lothian) and Edward Thomson (Senit Associates).

Winners of the Richardson and Brownlee Trophy were Duddingston duo Steve Gilhooley and Robert Binnie with a net score of 60.8.

Their score included four birdies and an eagle at the seventh, where Gilhooley holed their second shot.

In second place, were Alan Reid (West Lothian) and Tom Kinghorn (Prestonfield) with a score of 61.6 off 4.4, while Peter Mitchell (Hermitage) and Scott Wilson (Turnhouse) were third with 62.2 off 2.8.

The next event is at Gullane No.3 on 13 January.
