Golf: Defending Winter champions West get off to a flying start at Harburn
WEST and Fife were the two winners in the opening round of matches in this season's Lothians & Fife Golf Associations Winter League.
Harburn was the venue as West, the defending champions, won 6-4 against East, while Fife teed off their campaign with a 7-3 victory over Mid at Balbirnie Park. Keith Reilly, Graham Robertson, Jordyn Rhind, Stuart Boyle and Stuart Crookston won for West, with Craig Elliot and Mark Timmins both adding half points to their total.
Allyn Dick gave Mid the perfect start with a win over Stewart Elder but the visitors could only muster one more victory and that came from Sean Garvey at the other end of the order.
Two of Mid's youngsters, Jamie McIntosh and Euan Mackay, provided hope for the future as they both secured notable halves.
