Walker leads Scots trio’s challenge
LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR: Scottish trio Kylie Walker, Vikki Laing and Clare Queen had mixed bags in the first round of the Gold Coast RACV Australian Ladies Masters at RACV Royal Pines Resort in Queensland. Walker was tied for 40th after a one-under-par 71, while Laing and Queen both carded 72s. South Korea’s Bo-Mee Lee set the pace with a seven-under 65, ending the day a stroke ahead of compatriots So Yeon Ryu and Hee Kyung Seo, as well as Christel Boeljon from the Netherlands.
American Lexi Thompson won the battle of the teen pairing, the 16-year-old professional shading the 14-year-old amateur Lydia Ko with a five-under 67 compared to a two-under 70 for Ko, who created history last week by becoming the youngest winner of a professional tournament.
