Tour school in Borders

SCOTTISH hopefuls at this season’s European Tour Qualifying School will start their bid in the Borders instead of Ayrshire.

It follows the Tour’s decision to take a first stage event, held at Dundonald Links in recent years, to The Roxburghe near Kelso.

The event will be held on 11-14 September and follows the successful staging of the Scottish Seniors Open at the course from 2001-05.

“Our long-term aim is to stage a full-fledged European Tour event here and hosting the first stage is a big step in the right direction,” said The Roxburghe’s ambassador, Ronan Rafferty.
