Golf: Win a breeze for Russell

ARCHERFIELD ace Chris
Russell proved the top
wind-tamer to win yesterday’s Edinburgh & East of Scotland Alliance event at Craigielaw.

The son of Archerfield course designer DJ Russell claimed the Paterson Medal with a splendid three-under-par 68.

He finished four shots ahead of Gordon Law (Uphall), with Dunbar’s Neil Fenwick a
further shot back in third.

The handicap honours went to Musselburgh 11-handicapper Phil Leggate with a net 71, three less than Glencorse stalwart Andrew Wight and four better than Lothianburn’s George Wither.

West Lothian’s Willie Marr was top senior on the day with a net 80 playing off ten.

Law now tops the scratch
order of merit with 445 points, displacing Ratho Park’s Andrew Erskine.
