Tee-time for children
SCOTLAND'S first purpose-built golf course for children has been officially opened by Sports Minister Patricia Ferguson MSP.
She also used the occasion at the Hermitage Family Golf Course, near the Braids in Edinburgh, to launch clubgolf, the national junior golf strategy, which rolls out across Scotland this year. The strategy aims to give every nine-year-old the chance of some golf tuition by 2009.
"This new course will introduce young people to the game in a fun and exciting way and alongside the clubgolf initiative it will give young people more opportunities to get physically active," Ms Ferguson said.
