Guests at the newly-revamped Trump Turnberry are being offered the chance to stay in the iconic lighthouse at the Ayrshire venue, but it will cost them up to £7,000 for one night.

The plush hotel and the Ailsa Course both re-open today after being given multi-million pound makeovers by the resort’s owner, American billionaire Donald Trump.

The work has involved Turnberry lighthouse, which is set on the foundation of the ruins of the 13th century castle of Robert the Bruce, being transformed into a halfway house for golfers and a luxury two-bedroom suite for guests.

The cheapest of two one-night stay packages at one of the most photographed locations in golf, The Stevenson Experience, is £3,000 but The King of Scots Experience rises to £7,000.
