CHALLENGE Tour graduate Scott Henry is set for a dream start to his 2013 campaign after securing a spot in this week’s HSBC Abu Dhabi Golf Championship in Abu Dhabi.
Last year’s Kazakhstan Open winner was promoted off the reserve list over the weekend following the withdrawal of Swede Magnus Carlsson. It means Scotland will now be represented by a dozen players in the star-studded event when it gets underway at Abu Dhabi Golf Club on Thursday.
Henry got his first taste of European Tour action when he played in two events in South Africa last month but missed out on the money on both occasions. With a $2.7 million prize fund up for grabs this week, it’s an opportunity for the two-times former Scottish Boys’ champion to get his rookie campaign up and running.
Henry’s elevation follows Greenock’s Chris Doak, another Challenge Tour graduate, also earning a spot after initially being on the reserve list.
