Four Scots survive cut in Thailand

ASIAN TOUR Qualifying: Four Scots, led by Archerfield’s Lee Harper, survived the halfway cut in the stage one event over four courses in Hua Hin, Thailand.

Harper, a former Scottish Boys’ champion, fired a second-round 73 at Majestic Creek to sit in a tie for 23rd on level-par 142. Clarke Lutton also made it through at the same venue but only just after rounds of 76 and 74 left him right on the cut mark.

Rookie professional Greg Nicolson and Derek McKenzie are still in the hunt at Imperial Lakeview. Nicolson (72) is tied for 18th on 148, two less than McKenzie, who also signed for a 72.

The top 20 per cent of the players at each venue after four rounds go forward to the final stage, for which Walker Cup player James Byrne is among those already exempt.
