CATRIONA Matthew has split with Kevin Craggs, her coach for the past seven years, just a fortnight after the Scottish No 1 made an eighth appearance in the Solheim Cup at the age of 46.

“Catriona has been a great person to work with and she’s a great golfer. It’s just that we have stopped moving on. The spark isn’t there any longer,” Craggs told Global Golf Post.

While working with Matthew certainly helped raise his profile, the Bonnybridge-based coach still has Mel Reid, another member of Europe’s side in Germany last month, as one his pupils, as well as two-times Ladies European Tour winner Kylie Walker and Becky Brewerton.

Craggs has also started working recently with Chris Doak as the Livingston-based player battles to hang on to his card. He is currently sitting 159th in the Race to Dubai.

Matthew declined to comment on the decision to end her association with Craggs.
