Briefs: Unlucky seven for Ross Kellett in Morocco
ALPS TOUR: A triple-bogey seven at the seventh hole killed off Ross Kellett’s hopes in the Palmeraie Open in Morocco.
The 24-year-old Motherwell rookie had to settle for a share of fourth place on eight-under, eight shots behind American winner Tim O’Neal. Murrayshall’s Gavin Dear was joint sixth and Kris Nicol (Fraserburgh) and Philip McLean (Peterhead) were both under par for the 54 holes.
Crichton’s creditable sixth in South Africa
SOUTH AFRICAN STROKE-PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP: Aberdour’s Scott Crichton finished a creditable joint sixth at Glendower Golf Club in Gauteng after improving from joint 13th at the start of the last day with a one-under par 71 for a three-under total of 285.
Fellow Scots Daniel Kay (Dunbar) and Fraser McKenna (Balmore), on 298, shared 40th place in the tournament, which was won by home player Haydn Porteous.
Byrne just makes cut in Philippines
PHILIPPINE OPEN: Banchory’s James Byrne just made the cut in joint 65th place after following up his first-round 70 with an 80 for six-over on a tough second day at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.
Leader Mardan Mamat of Singapore had a two-under-par 70 to be five-under, three-ahead of home players Ferdinand Aunzo and Antonio Lascuna and American Ben Fox.
Arizona–based Gunn down in second
ALL AMERICAN PRO TOUR: Arizona-based Jimmy Gunn, after sharing the lead overnight at Sunridge Canyon, had to settle for joint second place and a prize of $2,835 after scores of 65, 70 and 72.
That left him on a six-under-par total of 207 for the event in Arizona, two shots behind the winner of the top prize of $10,330, American Brady Schnell.
Gunn is fifth on the tour’s money table with $8,887.
Six–under Ryu leads way in Melbourne

Ryu was six under par overall on Royal Melbourne’s composite course. American Stacy Lewis had a 73 for four under and compatriot Jessica Korda, England’s Melissa Reid and Paraguay’s Julieta Granada were on the same score.

Friday, April 20, 2012 at 09:06 AMGood morning and I would be very interested to know the Scots golfers who are participating in the Atlas Tour and wonder if any would be willing to give our Scottish golfing charity a helping hand in Marrakech! Many thanks in advance, Murdo (murdo_duncan@yahoo.fr)
