Golf: Murrayfield fly the flag

MURRAYFIELD women travel out to Spain tomorrow for the final stages of one of Britain's leading team tournaments.

They are flying the flag for Scotland along with Skelmorlie in The Mail on Sunday Classic at El Rompido.

Caroline Johnstone (6 handicap), Ray Lynch (9), Norma Richmond (9), Rosie Dennis (11), Lynn Wilson (11) Margaret Fergusson (12) are representing Murrayfield.

"We are hoping the two Scottish teams are not drawn in the semi-finals together," said Richmond. "We feel we have as good a chance as any of the other semi-finalists and, if we don't get through, it won't be for the lack of trying. We have built up an excellent team spirit.

"Our male members are so envious that they are going to enter the Mail on Sunday Classic for the first time next year!"
