Glasgow Hawks 46 - 26 Stirling County: Hawks sitting pretty but 'big three' await
TOP scorers, top of the league, three bonus point wins on the bounce; the Hawks are flying high. Nevertheless, they are taking nothing for granted.
"We're obviously happy to be where we are, but we know we must step up to another level over the next three games, with Currie, Ayr then Melrose to play," said Hawks skipper Rory McKay. "Nobody is getting carried away."
That message was reinforced by coach Peter Wright, who was, "happy with a bonus point, particularly after playing badly".
Wright had words of praise for County. He said: "They stopped us from playing for a while, but I was always confident our fitness would tell.
"We looked at our fixture list and targeted three wins to start, but with the big three coming up next, we face a real test of our strength and I don't expect to get the easy tries which County handed us in these next games."
Those easy points were a sore point with County coach Eddie Pollock. "We kept giving the ball away," he said.
