George Murray and Craig Lee start well
GEORGE Murray and Craig Lee both bounced back from missing the cut in the Johnnie Walker Championship to sit in the top ten after the opening round of the Allianz Europen de Strasbourg.
They signed for five-under-par 67s to trail the co-leaders, Daniel Gaunt, Lorenzo Gagli and Ryan Blaum, by three shots in the Challenge Tour event.
Murray, sitting fifth in the Challenge Tour rankings after his win at Spey Valley earlier in the year, recovered from a bogey at the first to grab an eagle and four birdies, while EuroPro Tour winner Lee signed for six birdies. Raymond Russell, the runner-up in Wales last weekend, opened with a 73, while Australian Gaunt fired six birdies and an eagle. French teenager Romain Wattel, winner of the Scottish Stroke Play Championship, is alongside Murray and Lee on five-under.
