Geary hero for Dumfries
AUSTRALIAN recruit Josh Geary emerged as the Dumfries hero as they swept aside the challenge of Weir's at Nunholm.
Geary struck a solid 80 and figured in a century opening stand with Chris Belwood (33) to pave the way for a tally of 240. He then snapped up two wickets to help restrict the Glasgow side to 196.
Dumfries spokesman Davy Davidson said: "We regard this as a hugely important result because Weir's have given us lots of problems in the past. We feared our total might be 20 or 30 runs short of par, but the bowlers responded really well."
Weir's were in the hunt while Russell Murray (76) and Vince Burd (28) were at the crease but they fell away after that.
Falkland entered the fray at last after their first two games were rained off,
rattling up an impressive 262 for six before skittling Edinburgh CC for 105 at Scroggie Park.
And at King George Park, former Scotland spinner Andy Tennant turned back the clock with a six-wicket spell to inspire Prestwick's win over Renfrew.
