GB basketball duo are major doubts

BASKETBALL: Great Britain coach Chris Finch revealed injured duo Mike Lenzly and Dan Clark are “50/50 at best” to be fit for the Olympic Games.

Lenzly has a torn calf muscle while Finch said Clark’s ankle sprain is a bad one, with Friday the deadline for a decision to be made on their availability.

“Mike and Dan are both going through pretty extensive fitness testing today,” Finch said. “Dan has a fairly severe ankle sprain and Mike has a slight tear in his calf, and those are both things that are going to heal at their own pace.

“We’re giving them every chance to be fit before we make a decision. Both players are committed to the recovery process.

“They are both key players for our team so its important they are given the best chance to be at 100 per cent.”
