Full back Jason plans to be singing when he's winning with Hearts
JASON THOMSON wants to enjoy the X-Factor in peace tomorrow night – and that means helping Hearts win at Kilmarnock to stop their slide down the Clydesdale Bank SPL table.
The young defender had just settled down to watch his favourite TV programme last Saturday night when he got a text from a friend asking if he'd seen reports that Csaba Laszlo had quit as Hearts boss.
Thomson quickly flicked over to Sky Sports News to see if they were running anything on the story at that time but they weren't so he put his telly back to ITV and enjoyed his weekly fix of Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh.
Now Thomson is hoping for an uninterrupted night's viewing tomorrow and he knows the only way to guarantee that is by helping the Tynecastle side pick up a much-needed victory at Rugby Park.
Asked about the rumours that swept over the city in the wake of last weekend's 2-1 defeat at home to St Johnstone, Thomson said: "I was watching the X-Factor when I got a text to say there was a story running about Csaba on Sky Sports News. I flicked it on but couldn't see it."
After being handed his first start of the season in the derby game earlier in the month, Thomson was delighted to retain his place for the visit of St Johnstone, especially as namesake Craig was also available but had to be content with berth on the bench.
Now the 22-year-old is hoping he can enjoy a prolonged run in the first team, having been frustrated by the fact he's been in and out of the squad like a yo-yo at times.
"I was flung in for derby, which was a bit of a surprise, and felt I did okay," he said. "It was the same on Saturday, though I did get skinned for the first goal.
"All I've been trying to do is cement a place in the team. Over the years I think two or three games is the most I've played in a row.
"I need a run of games to help me play my best and I know that's not going to be easy as Craig is probably one of the better players this season."
