Forfar 0 - 2 Dumbarton: Clark double keeps Dumbarton in title hunt
Forfar 0 Dumbarton 2 Clark (55, 72)
DUMBARTON kept themselves in the title picture with a well-deserved victory which looks to have put paid to Forfar's play-off hopes.
Ross Clark bagged a double to keep Dumbarton just three points behind Third Division leaders Cowdenbeath, but for Forfar this latest defeat meant the Loons have taken only two points out of a possible 15 from five consecutive home fixtures.
Veteran defender Andy Tod was first to save Forfar when cleared off the line from Derek Carcary, and there was another narrow escape when Ally Devine did likewise to prevent a Ben Gordon effort from crossing the line.
The second-half saw Devine again clear off the line, this time from Ryan McStay, before the deadlock was finally broken in the 55th minute as there was no stopping a Clark volley from 20 yards out. Clark wrapped up the game when he scored his second in the 72nd minute, latching on to a ball into the box and slotting the ball calmly under the lunging frame of Forfar goalkeeper John Gibson.
