Football: Old friends United, but Eric's happy to score against mates

INVERNESS striker Eric Odhiambo insists he does not have a bad word to say about former club Dundee United but was happy to take points off them in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Tannadice.

Odhiambo – who spent five months on loan at United last season – opened the scoring before Lee Wilkie rescued a point for the home side.

He said: "I was here from January until the end of the season last year.

"I loved my time here, I really enjoyed it. Everyone was top-drawer with me and I've not got a bad thing to say about the club or the staff or players.

"I still get on with all the boys and we are still friends."

Odhiambo thought his goal would be enough to secure the points until Russell Duncan was dismissed with 20 minutes to go and United were able to haul themselves back into the game.

He added: "Up until the sending-off, I thought we were going to hold on for the win.

"But, the way the game went in the end, a draw was probably the best result for both teams."

Inverness are now undefeated in three games since Terry Butcher took over the hot seat and Odhiambo insists there is renewed confidence that the Clydesdale Bank Premier League's bottom side can avoid the drop this season.

He said: "Since the new manager has come in, there has been a definite turnaround.

"There is a new enthusiasm and it's like having new players here.

"United are a good side, they are challenging for Europe and we have come away disappointed that we only got a point. That shows how far we have come."
