Football: Higdon determined to get his hands on trophy, wife
FALKIRK star Michael Higdon today looked forward to two of the biggest matches of his life – as he prepared for the Scottish Cup final and his wedding.
The big hitman gets married to long-term girlfriend Lindsay next week and is hoping the trophy can take pride of place on the big day! Higdon joked that he'll take the cup down to the ceremony in Liverpool to adorn the top table alongside him and his new wife if Falkirk pull off victory against Rangers. He said: "I get married next week so I suppose that this is the start of my stag do! I am going to try to make the most of it.
"If we win the cup it would be just brilliant – and I'll take the trophy down with me and stick it on the top table." Higdon is one of a number of the Falkirk players who will be taking part in their first top-level cup final this weekend and he admitted that he can't wait to run out onto the Hampden turf: "It'll be my first cup final and I can't stop thinking about the game, to be honest.
"I can't wait, especially after last week and the result against Inverness.
We're going into the unexpected tomorrow because, for a lot of the boys, it will be the first time they have been involved in anything like it.
"We've played in big games against Celtic and Rangers this season and a lot of the boys have played with the Old Firm as well so they know what it's all about.
"We've got nothing to lose and hopefully that will help us relax, enjoy it and pull it out of the bag."
