Young is Lily hero in penalty shoot-out

IN a ding-dong Image Printers Cup battle, Hawick sailed into the lead in the second minute when Declan Hogg fired home a free-kick.

After being reduced to ten men with Craig Stupart red carded, Lily equalised a minute from the interval through a Jason Young goal. After the break, Ross Cameron put Easthouses ahead with a superb header from a Jason Young free kick. Hawick came bouncing back and Steven Clee levelled the scores, only for substitute John Hunter to restore Easthouses’ lead. Clee put the cup tie into extra time by snatching an equaliser.

A minute from the end of the first period Hogg put Hawick ahead, finding the net with a glorious shot. In a dramatic second period, Hawick had Ross Brand and Ronald Fleming sent off before Ryan McQueenie put Easthouses on level terms with a last gasp equaliser. In the 
penalty shoot-out, goalkeeper Bryan Young emerged as the home side’s hero, pulling off saves from Peter Keenan and Greg Young. Hunter, Craig Downie, McQueenie and Jamie Shields all scored for Easthouses. Clee, Andy Whitson and Andy Noble netted for Hawick.
