19:50 Harry Redknapp was tonight hoping Tottenham had beaten the transfer deadline to complete an 8million swoop for Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.
Spurs boss Redknapp revealed he was alerted to the Holland star's availability just two hours before the window closed at 6pm but, two hours later, the clubs had still not confirmed if the deal had been done.
Redknapp claimed 27-year-old Van der Vaart had yesterday been set to join Bayern Munich for 18million but the move broke down.
19:45 Stoke announce the triple signing of Eidur Gudjohnsen (loan), Jermaine Pennant (loan) and Marc Wilson (permanent).
18:45 St Mirren have signed former Grimsby midfielder Nick Hegarty following a successful trial spell.
17:59 Blackpool have signed striker DJ Campbell for an undisclosed fee from Leicester.
17:59: Sunderland have confirmed the signing of striker Asamoah Gyan from Rennes.
17:58 Birmingham have completed the signing of Chile winger Jean Beausejour on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Club America.

16.08: Wigan have signed Tom Cleverley on a season-long loan from Manchester United.
15.52: Birmingham have signed former Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb on a season-long loan deal. The 29-year-old is Blues' sixth summer signing and the second on deadline day after they also completed a deal for defender Martin Jiranek this afternoon.
15.47: Celtic have completed the signing of Anthony Stokes from Hibernian on a four-year deal. The Republic of Ireland international becomes Celtic manager Neil Lennon's 11th signing of the summer. The 22-year-old striker was top scorer for Hibs last season with 23 goals and will be presented at a press conference at Celtic Park later this afternoon.
15.11: English Premier League clubs' spending on players this season is heading for a four-year low. Unless any big surprise deals are done, spending on transfers by top-flight clubs is expected to total around 330million this summer - down 25% on last year and the lowest sum since 2006.
15.10: Fulham's Paul Konchesky has completed his move to Liverpool, signing a four-year deal. Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic have moved in the other direction.
15.00: Bolton have signed forward Rodrigo Moreno from Benfica on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance
13.48: Confirmation of earlier prediction: Kilmarnock have signed Alexei Eremenko on loan until the end of the year from Ukraine club Metalist Kharkiv.
13.37: Hoffenheim have completed the signing of midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson from English Championship club Reading for a deal worth a reported 7.3million euros.
13.33: Robinho has arrived in Milan for talks about a prospective move to AC Milan from Manchester City, but any transfer taking the Brazilian to the San Siro is unlikely to be a simple one.
13.16: German side VfB Stuttgart have signed former Italy World Cup winner Mauro Camoranesi from Juventus for one year with an option to renew.
12.39: Tottenham have signed Croatia goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa from Spartak Moscow on a season-long loan, the club have confirmed.
12.11: Leeds have signed Honduras forward Ramon Nunez on a permanent deal after the 24-year-old impressed on loan.
11.51: Sky Sports News reporting that Eidur Gudjohnsen is flying from Monaco to Stoke for talks.
11.30: French striker David Trezeguet has ended his 10-year spell at Juventus to join newly-promoted Spanish side Hercules.
11.21: Airdrie United have signed youth player Scott Sally on a two-year deal.

• Kilmarnock last night failed to sign Rangers striker Andrius Velicka. While Rangers are willing to sell the Lithuanian, they were unhappy with Killie's offer. (Daily Record)
• Hearts boss Jim Jefferies still hopes to sign an attacking midfielder before the transfer deadline. (Daily Record)
• Hibs boss John Hughes will now try to tempt Alan Gow back to Easter Road after losing Anthony Stokes to Celtic. Hibs will also complete the signing of Ghana defender Francis Dickoh today. (The Sun)
• Kilmarnock are set to land Finnish international Alexei Eremenko. (Mail)
• Birmingham boss Alex McLeish attempting to lure out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb back to England. (Mail)
11.07: Javier Mascherano has passed his medical as he puts the finishing touches on his move from Liverpool to Barcelona. The 26-year-old Argentina international will reportedly cost Barca 22million euros (18million).
10.59: Quote of the day... Former Rangers defender Marvin Andrews, on signing for Wrexham: "I was praying and asking God and Wrexham came up."
10.58: From today's Daily Mail (and The Sun): Rangers last night rejected a bid by Premiership new boys Blackpool to sign Kyle Lafferty on loan.
10.56: Freed Rangers winger DaMarcus Beasley last night signed for German club Hannover 96 on a one-year deal. Celtic outcast Landry N'Guemo is also a target for the club.
10.32: Schalke have signed Klaas Jan Huntelaar from AC Milan for 10.5million. The German club have also agreed a deal with Atletico Madrid for Jose Manuel Jurado.
10.20: St Mirren have handed trials to Greek midfielder Christos Veletanis and Euan Holden. 22-year-old former Grimsby midfielder Nick Hegarty is also being looked at again.
10.02: Wolves have signed striker Marcus Bent on loan from Birmingham City until January.
09.51: Mark Gilhaney has joined Dumbarton after a successful trial.
09.45: Rumours from today's Express: Celtic ready to play a late-night waiting game over Robbie Keane as he stews on the bench at Tottenham.
Also, Wigan are to make another cross-border raid to sign Motherwell defender Mark Reynolds for 1million.
09.23: AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has not ruled out making another signing before the end of the transfer window. The Rossoneri acquired former Inter Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Barcelona on Saturday and are now trying to lure Manchester City striker Robinho to the San Siro. "If a certain player interests us and is functional to our needs then we will be ready for another hit," said Berlusconi to Gazzetta dello Sport.
09.22: Rapid Vienna have signed former Celtic striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink as a replacement for new Rangers signing Nikica Jelavic. The 31-year-old Vennegoor of Hesselink has been without a club since his contract with Hull City expired last season, but has signed a two-year deal. More in today's Scotsman
09.18: West Brom have strengthened their squad by signing Austrian international Paul Scharner on a two-year contract.
09.15: The big Scottish move of the day is Anthony Stokes' 1.2million switch to Celtic. Hibs' top scorer from last season has agreed terms with the Parkhead club and will be in Glasgow to complete a medical today. More on this story from today's Scotsman.
The loss of Stokes is a major blow to Hibs' aspirations for the season, although they have quickly attempted to fill the void left by Stokes by bringing Darryl Duffy to the club on a season's loan from Bristol Rovers.
