Jack Compton chooses Falkirk over Newcastle
THE SCOTSMAN: NEW Falkirk winger Jack Compton has revealed how he knocked back the chance to land a deal at Championship leaders Newcastle United to move to the SPL. The former Portsmouth and West Brom midfielder will pen an initial 18-month contract with Falkirk at the start of January having signed a pre-contract from English non-league side Weston-super-Mare.

DAILY RECORD: Hamilton ace James McArthur last night admitted he was flattered to be linked with a move to Real Betis but will treat it as speculation and nothing more. Scouts from the Spanish Second Division team saw him turn in an impressive display in Sunday's controversial win over Hearts.

DAILY EXPRESS: JIM Jeffries last night guaranteed Mark Burchill a Kilmarnock contract until June after being bowled over by the striker's first start of the season.
Slovak keeper Pernis arrives at Tannadice
THE SCOTSMAN: DUNDEE United have welcomed Dusan Pernis to the club after MSK Zilina agreed to cancel his contract. The goalkeeper signed a pre-contract agreement with United in July and the Clydesdale Bank Premier League side tried to secure his early release from the Slovakian's parent club.

McLeish rules out move for Van Nistelrooy
VARIOUS: BIRMINGHAM City manager Alex McLeish will hold talks with Slovakia striker Jan Novak to see if there is any possibility of the player moving to St Andrew's from MFK Kosice next month – but has ruled out any chance of signing Real Madrid's Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko as he looks to bring in new fire-power next month.
