Nakamura to return home?

THE SCOTSMAN: Celtic striker Scott McDonald believes that out-of-contract Japanese midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura has left Parkhead for a return to J-League side Yokohama Marinos

McDonald, currently on international duty for Australia ahead of tomorrow's world cup qualifier against Japan in Melbourne, spoke to Nakamura last week, when Japanese football's biggest name confirmed his decision to leave Scotland after five years in the SPL.

DAILY MAIL: New Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has made an attempt to win the race to sign Carlos Tevez by telephoning him personally.

The Italian called Tevez after obtaining the number from the striker's Argentina colleague Hernan Crespo and stressed he sees him as an integral part of his plans.

Johnson for Liverpool?

BBC: Liverpool look to have won the race to sign England defender Glen Johnson after agreeing a fee in the region of 17m with Portsmouth.

Villa on the market?

DAILY MAIL: Real Madrid look to have pulled out of the market for Valencia's David Villa, reportedly saying the transfer fee is too high.

That now leaves the ball in Barcelona's court, who were said to be preparing a 42million bid for the Spaniard, as well as offer players Bojan Krkic and Jose Martin Caceres.
