Ten-man Inter win the Milan derby

INTER struck in the third minute with a Walter Samuel header and hung on despite playing nearly all of the second half with ten men to beat AC Milan 1-0 in their Serie A derby last night.

Milan were in almost total control after Inter had Yuto Nagatomo sent off for a second bookable offence. The defeat leaves Milan with only seven points from their first seven league games of the season. Inter have 15, four behind leaders Juventus and Napoli.

A late goal by Claudio Marchisio gave Serie A leaders Juventus a 2-1 win at Siena, while Miroslav Klose scored twice in Lazio’s 3-0 defeat of Pescara.

Cagliari won their first game of the season, 1-0 at Torino, and Roma managed their first home win, defeating Atalanta 2-0 to ease the pressure on coach Zdenek Zeman.

Marchisio volleyed home in the 85th minute to leave Juventus with 19 points and extend their unbeaten Serie A record to 46 matches.

Andrea Pirlo put the title holders ahead in the 14th minute before Emanuele Calaio equalised for Siena
in first-half stoppage time. Juventus went on to dominate the second half before Marchisio’s winner.

In Germany, champions Borussia Dortmund lost ground in their title defence drawing 1-1 at Hanover 96
and are now nine points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

In the French version of El Clasico, Marseille and PSG drew 2-2.
