FALKIRK manager Steven Pressley has told his young side that a visit to Hampden for a Scottish Cup semi-final will give them the perfect opportunity to prove just how good they are.

Falkirk will earn an outing at the national stadium for the second season running if they can progress past Hamilton Accies in tomorrow’s all-First Division tie at New Douglas Park. The Westfield outfit made it all the way to the penultimate stage of the Scottish Communities League Cup last term before losing out to Celtic 3-1.

However, despite just one defeat to Accies in the last 13 meetings of the sides, Pressley is aware his youthful line-up will first have to ensure they hit the heights tomorrow before they can dream of Hampden.

He said: “It was a terrific day out for our supporters and our players last season.

“This is again a chance for many of our young players to enhance their reputations. When you get to a semi-final it showcases your talents. But we obviously have a very difficult job getting there because Hamilton have real aspirations. The noises coming out of there this week is that they have a real determination to see this job through, so it will be a challenge for us.

“We have had a good record against Hamilton over the period and we have performed well against them.

“But they have always been really close games and I envisage no difference this weekend with so much at stake for both clubs.”
